Apply for electricity discounts for manufacturing sites
The British Industrial Competitiveness Scheme (BICS) helps eligible manufacturing companies reduce their electricity costs.
Before you start, read the BICS guidance. It explains the eligibility criteria, evidence requirements and how relief is calculated.
You can submit one application per company. If another person needs to complete the application, a new application must be started.
You can save and return to this application at any point.
Before you start
You will need:
- a GOV.UK One Login account (or to be able to create one)
- your company's Companies House number
- details of each eligible manufacturing site in Great Britain
- MPAN details for each manufacturing site
- 6 months of evidence of eligible manufacturing activity at each site
- 6 months of electricity consumption evidence for each relevant MPAN
- details of any private wire arrangements or electricity relief schemes
If your electricity is supplied through a landlord or third party
You will also need:
- evidence of the supply arrangement, such as a tenancy agreement, recharge agreement or contract
- invoices, billing statements or other evidence showing electricity consumption and charges
If an MPAN is shared
You will also need:
- evidence showing how electricity consumption is allocated between organisations
- evidence of the proportion of electricity used by your company
This service refers to the applicant as a “company” but note that other legal forms of business, including partnerships or bodies corporate, may also be eligible provided they are registered with Companies House.
